On 27 August six of us went by cars to Epping, New Hampshire, for the third annual Hot Rod Reunion Days, and came home on 31 August.
This is a huge gathering of nostalgic drag race cars, hot rods and show/custom/classic cars at the New England Dragway. Some of those old dragsters can still hit 400 kph (250 mph) and were a thrill to hear (VERY LOUD) and see blast down the track.
It was pretty hot at 30C and a bit more every day to us with Eskimo blood
, but we endured.
These are some of the cars and racers we saw.
This is a 1950 Ford and was the first car I ever owned. Mine was a two-door coach like this one. It had a flathead V8 and standard three speed transmission. I put a glass pack muffler (silencer) on it and fender skirts and I thought I was really something
