Bj English of Missouri’s Brick House Builds has become one of our favorite young builders — not just in the States, but int he world. A one-man operation, Bj has a knack for building customs that are at once nostalgic and unique, touching us deep in our motorcycling DNA. Now he’s completed his 9th build, a 1975 Honda CB360 scrambler dubbed “Tuna,” and we’re thrilled to introduce it to the world.

The lightweight scrambler began as a parts bike buried in the back of a warehouse. We especially love the high fender, skid plate, high-mount 2-into-1 exhaust, and that lovely paint scheme and saddle. Rarely have we seen such a handsome, well-sorted scrambler. Below, we get the full story on the build.

This bike started as a long-forgotten parts bike that I helped dig out of a warehouse. It was missing a lot of pieces but had most of the crucial components there as well as a title so I decided to pick it up to work from. When a potential customer approached me looking for a lightweight scrambler I knew this was the perfect bike for the job so we came up with a plan and the build was underway.

After stripping the bike down the rear of the frame was cut and hooped before fabricating a low profile electronics tray as the customer wanted the open triangle look.

A clean seat pan was made to fit the new frame shape and original fenders front and back were heavily modified to fit the bike. An enduro needs a high fender in my mind so the lower triple was modified to support one.

Longer shocks out back gave the desired ride height and ground clearance but to be extra safe I fabricated a skid plate for the bottom of the engine. The last major piece to be made was the 2 into 1 high mount exhaust exiting through a cone muffler.

Once fabrication was done the bike was torn down for powderocat, paint, and polishing. The engine needed a full rebuild so it was torn down and everything vapor honed for a clean surface to work from. The engine was assembled with upgraded with charging and ignition systems before going back in the bike. Connecting all electrical components on the bike is an entirely new custom tailored wiring harness.

The colors were very important for this bike as the customer wanted to have a yellow and blue two-toned scheme but didn’t the colors themselves to be too flashy or bright. After many combinations we agreed upon Porsche Aquamarine blue and Toyota suntan yellow which we absolutely love. The bike is very hard to capture in photos but you get the idea!

The final piece of the puzzle was the seat and my upholsterer knocked it out of the park as usual with material, color, and pattern choice.

Overall this is a very fun bike that will be enjoyed by my customer and his two sons who all have to fight over who gets to ride it!
