Do you think the painted to match radiator schroud is going to be standard or an added accessory? how do you like the speedo/tach combo? I'm not sure you'll be able to make it until their released

The shroud is accessory as are a LOT of parts on that bike. I'd say probably $4-6k in accessories, which bums me out because a lot of them i'd want, and the bike will already be as much as i want to spend. Chromed fork legs, chromed wheels, chromed handlbar control housings, the mirrors, the handlebars, the rear fender finisher/rack, and the shortys are all things i'd want to get with the possible exception of the shortys. But they are growing on me fast. problem is, thats a fortune for sure. The front wheel on my speedy thats not even chromed is $700, so those wheels are likely about a grand each. So theres your choice.........a nice triumph with a triumph price tag, or a triumph with the finish quality of a harley with a harley price tag. Tough decision when you're talkin that kind of money for a toy. As for the tach, i'm actually quite stoked. Because till i saw a close uip pic of the speedo in another pic i thought i read somewhere there will be no tach. I wish the instruments were up top, but my speedy's tach is on the tank so i'm already used to it. At least it HAS one. By the way, i should have mentioned the radiator shroud will be matte black on the standard bike but will be available in matching colors to the rest of the bike or chrome. I know because i've seen pics of all of these. There are more pics of the bagger version at BA forum, but i don't like baggers or the silver color.

By the way, the person who posted some of the pics at BA said of his friend who took them.... "He was at the Intermot motorcycle exhibition in Cologne, Germany. He tells me the bike is only very slightly larger than our bikes."

Man, it just keeps getting better. Geez......i hope i don't get sick and die before this thing hits the showrooms !

Those chrome wheels in the pic you posted look like the stock wheels? If thats the case taking them off and having them plated (plenty of good platers in Cal.) can probably be done for about $250 a wheel, I know you can get fork lowers plated for around a $100 apeice, you'll have to take them lose from the bike and remove the seals and what not. You'd probably have to do that anyway ,unless you could order them direct from the factory already on the bike. Switch housing's can be plated too.($35 to $40 apiece) I'v had parts like you mentioned plated before and the prices I posted ar pretty close . I'm liking the black color and having alot of the same parts you mentioned along with other parts plated in black chrome( cost is around 20% more for black chrome). Oh and some 1 1/4", 12"to 14" mini apes with the wiring internally wired . Although the bike might not be out until mid to late summer 09 When do you think Triumph will release some actual spec info for everyone to dicuss and debate ?

arkyrider.....god idea, tho i've checked prices on chrome and around here at least it's always been much more than that, especially if the parts need to be made smooth first. And i believe the aluminum wheels have a texture to them as other triumph wheels often have. same with the legs. the legs on the 900's have a texture to them like brused aluminum. thats where all the work is, not in the chroming. If they were all smooth then it would be lot cheaper to be sure. In fact, i bet triumph will make sure those parts are textured so people are more likely to buy the accessory parts insted of chroming the ones that came on the bike. I may still save a good deal tho, but i'm sure it'll cost a lot more than that. the housings may be plastic too. at least thats how they are on the speedy. 1/2 the housing is metal, but the side with no stress on it is plasitc. Also, i may be wrong, but i'd bet those bars and the housings are sold as a single accessory. thats ok tho because i want both. But i would look at the wheels anyways and see if i could save enough to make it worthwhile. As to the internal wiring, i always wanted that too but on this bike the wiring looks so clean i'm fine with it. My speedy's wiring is pathetic, but at that price point you have to expect that. The Tbird is sett compete with HD so they can't afford to let little details like that go because harleys have the best finish quality in the business.

As to specs, i don't know. i imagine they will be available when the bike goes up on the website which should be shortly before they start shipping them. I do know it will be 6 speed, and in the cycle world article a triumph rep said it makes a bit over 100 Ft Lbs of tourqe. No mention of HP except to say that when they designed it the goal was a minimum of 80 HP. thats pathetic, but they said that was the minimum they would accept, so i imagine it will end up being more. Probably close to 100. And with cat bypass which they are sure to offer it should add another 10 HP. Should be easy to up the HP a good 20 or so altogether with minimal mods like cat bypass, pipes, and airway de-restriction. (when mapping becomes available) from what i have read so far i'd say around 90 HP, 100 Lbs of torque, and about 625-650 Lbs dry. I think with minimal mods it's not going to give much away to a stock R3 performance wise. And with a little more like the 1700 kit and porting or cams i'm sure a lot of guys will soon be taking them right on up to R3 levels of performance. Did i mention i'm excited by the way?

I would really be chomping at the bit if it were a mid control bike! :y114:

well then, as i said, look for a bike fabricator in your area ! seriously. look at it this way. If the bike cost you $1k more than the list turns out to be, that wouldn't stop you if it were mid peg would it? then why not spend that on a fabbed up set of mid controls? I'm sure a good fab guy could do it easy enough. he||, i'll be spending way more than that on accessories to be sure !

I think I like this blue because it is the deep blue. I have always liked the deep colours on British bikes. This photo really looks good just the pipes I need short slash pipes to complete this picture

I love those pipes. I like them a lot more than the long ones. In fact, i like them on that bike more than i would slash cuts. But they will probably add another 5 or 6 hundred to the price tag.

This does not look bad at all

I would like to have the bags on it but I would lose the windscreen for sure

I don't like windscreens or bags, but if i were to buy a strickly touring bike i'd leave them both. On the lights however....GOODBYE!!! God, they look horrid? Why does anyone need 100 Lbs of lights, especially when your bike begins looking like that lighting at a baseball park ! On the instrument panel, i like it too. But i'm wondering id the odometer will also show fuel level because i don't see it anywhere else. It must. And i hope it's not glitchy like the R3 is or was. Everyone complained it would show almost empty when it still had gallons left.

One thing i'm hoping is that the reason for that badge is another way to suck money out of us for aftermarket accessories. I'm thinking they'll offer the badges like ours aftermarket. I remember when the bonnies with the new plastic badges came out someone found they were glued on and you could peel them off to find the screw holes underneath for mounting the old badge ! this would be the final touch.

I don't care for all the glitz and chrome on this model. As for the lights, I do like them. If you ride at night in rural areas (and I do), you need the light. Even in the day time in the city, the lights help cagers see you - if they are not on a cell phone.
