Hello all,

Time for a new helmet. Looking at the Shoei RF1400. Wondering if anyone wears one on their T120 or T100 and how they find the performance with the riding position? Some reviews note that the Shoei RF1400 performs best in a slightly 'forward' or tucked position and as the T120 position isn't as upright as an adventure touring bike, I think it could work?

I wore one at the dealer for .5 hour and the fit seemed fine for my very intermediate oval head. Nice and snug. No pressure points.

I currently have an Arai Defiant-X. But it's now just over five years old so time for a new one.

Any suggetions besides the RF1400?

HJC make a good helmet. Nice features for the money. I bought one last year when my Shark Evoline needed replacing. Not the same stlye as what you're looking for but they make A LOT of different helmets.
I know they're not in the same league as Shoei or Arai, but maybe worth a look.
Another two brands I have been considering is NEXX and Nolan. Nexx has one of the cheapest carbon fibre helmets out there.

I am using a Shoei Neotech, it was the helmet I used with my BMW K1300GT, similar riding position, when the BMW windscreen was fully down. Relatively quiet. I like the convenience of the modular of not always needing to remove the helmet for a quick drink or eating a granola bar.

Check out Nexx.

I bought a XG100 because I liked the look of it. The fit and feel of it are so good I don’t wear any of my other bucket’s anymore, and I picked up another one.

Nexx is also European made. I believe it’s a Spanish company with facilities in Portugal.

Beyond brand nd features to me the most important is fit. We all have different shaped heads and some helmets fit better than others.
I agree. Your head is going to be in there for long periods of time so get one that fits. I've been using HJC helmets for well over 25 years because they fit me well and are a good helmet at a good price.
Buy the best one you can afford and make sure it fits.

I was all set on buying a retro style Bell helmet (I forget which one), then Googled alternatives to said helmet.
One of the alternatives that came up was Biltwell. They have a handfull of models and I chose the Lanesplitter.
Lots of positive reviews on youtube. DOT and ECE rated. Replaceable cheeck pads. Cost me $350 Australian.
Very pleased with it.
