I've joined the forum to read and collect information at this point. I'm about to pull the trigger on a New 1200 Scrambler XC. Now that I think about it. Both of my past two bikes were scramblers. The first one was a 1966 Honda 160cc Scrambler. I received my driver's license one day and bought the Honda. With the money, I had saved from a part-time job sacking groceries back in the day. Hard to do making a $1.41 an hour but my overhead was low at the time living at home. Never having ridden a motorcycle before that point. The dealer gave me half an hour's worth of instruction and let me go. I learned by the seat time I put in. Back then all you needed was your license, and no helmet law at the time either.
My next scrambler was a 1970 BSA 650 Scrambler. I loved that bike as well. It was not much different from the Triumph Bonnie back then. The BSA was just not as popular and that's why I bought it. In hindsight , I should have kept that classic. I stopped riding years ago as life took on a different path.
But I think I'm back as I have moved to an area with lots of two-lane country roads calling out to me once again.
