I've been a Biker in just about every riding realm out there for over 50 years and now that I'm retired looking forward to some long rides and adventures. Sold my HD and I'm really looking hard at the newer Triumph Scramblers, any advise you guy's can share will be much appreciated. I know the Scrambler might not be the prefect Adventure bike but for the types of riding/camping I'll be doing it should work out great...

Hello and welcome to TT from the east coast of Canada BBEER
My only comment about the Scrambler is to consider what you will be carrying and how that will work with those high pipes that may be in the way.

Hello and welcome from Mesquite NV USA. I had a 2010 Scrambler and did some 500 mile days on her. If I was in need of an adventure bike now I'd go with a Tiger, a bit more comfort. Where do you hang your hat?

Central Ohio, would be doing off road as well is why I was considering the Scrambler but do agree the exhaust would have to be dealt with. Maybe I should look at the Tiger, although mostly wouldn't do more than 300 mile days...

Welcome to TT from Eastern Canada as well.
Check out the Scambler section for lots more info from those that have gone through the heart aches of rigging one up for touring. Sure if you post any questions there someone should chime in with an answer, eventually.

While not designed as an adventure touring bike, my 1200XE is certainly capable of filling that role. I have a low Zard exhaust so I can use my soft panniers but there are other pannier solutions out there that work with the stock exhaust.

I don't like the 'keyless' ignition system and you'll find lots of people would rather have a regular keyed system. I've never been stranded but often get 'key out of range' error messages. That's a minor issue though.

I bought a Centech AP-2 fuse panel to power accessories including my gps but I've yet to find a suitable place to mount it. It won't fit under the seat where I had planned to put it. Not having the fairings that most ADV bikes have means there's not much room for stuff like that, so that's something to be aware of.

The OEM tail rack is rated for 2kg and I'm sure there are better alternatives.

All in all these are pretty minor issues on what is a fantastic machine.
