If this is a Labor Day long weekend wherever you are, have a great weekend, and above all, please be safe.
As I recover from my injuries the words "be safe" and "ride safe" have far more meaning than they ever did.
As for me I'm taking my wife to our cottage on the lake for a couple of days. My wife has given up driving because of her health so I haven't been able to go there all summer, but this week I drove my car for the first time in over two months, and believe me, it felt GOOD!

Rocky, you and your bide have a wonderful weekend. I'm glad you are back behind the wheel. And you have a great Labor Day weekend.

Dad and I just got back from the NC mountains, a 1142 mile (1837.9 Killometers) round trip. Unfortunately it was in a cage. I had planned to leave today to ride to Mariana to visit Mae Lyne. She is baby sitting her grandson for two weeks. However, unloading the car yesterday afternoon, I slipped on the steps and took a tumble. I badly sprained the anterior ligament of my left ankle and am on crutches with the ankle splinted. I have up and down motion with the ankle - thus, I can shift; but no side to side or rotation motion. I'm afraid a 333 mile trip (536 kilometers), one way, is a bit much. Thus I will do some local riding just to stay loose.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Rained all day today. We're getting some spin-off from Gustav. We will see Hanna on Wednesday of next week. Great oil-change/clean garage weather.

I'd rather be here than in the Big Easy. They are gonna take another whuppin'.

We all told 'em that God don't like Mardi Gras!!

They've evacuated most of New Orleans in preparation....what they should have done before Katrina.

Even Democrats can learn! Louisiana has another governor who is providing some leadership this time around.

Thanks, AJ and Rocky. It is a tad painful. I have done this before - many years ago, when I was young and healed faster. I did about 30 miles today in suburbia and got along quite well. It was a touch painful to hit 5th gear every now and then. Cruising in rural areas will be no problem. However, it is too late for me to go to Mariana to see Mae Lyne. Gustaf is already sending his rains and winds over them.

That'll teach me to post before I read the whole string.

Carl, I hope you are up and around soon. :y58:

You really should be more careful. :y28: At your age, things don't heal as fast as they used to. :y23:

Thanks, Fuzzy; and you are right on target about the slow healing!!!

Ride safe

Carl,

you alright mate? How's the ankle?

Went riding with a buddy yesterday down towards melboune beach and along the coast to Cocoe. Went to a nice restaurant and bar for some "nosh" (food). Good bloody band there too and a whole lot of bikers. Then headed back this way. Me mrs wasn't to happy I was gone like 6 hours...hahaha She would of been fine if I knew and told her I was going that long. Alright for me mate he had his Mrs. with him on the back. What a great riding day though.

Let me know if ya need anything mate....we have to meet up yet. hey! sit on ya bike and I will push ya....haha

Ride safe

Hi Steve. I'm doing fine. I rode about 30 miles Sunday and about 70 miles today. I can shift OK. Up and down motion doesn't bother the ankle unless I flex too high. I sure can't move it from side or rotate it, though. This coming Sunday, I'm riding down to Okeechobee with the BIR boys for lunch. You are welcome to join me if you would like. I'm going down the turnpike to Yeehaw Junction and picking up 441 there. I will also meet three other riders at Yeehaw. Fuzzy and Shyguy from this forum will be there.

Carl,

May have to take a rain check on that one mate........this Ike storm does not look good mate and i may be getting ready for it. I have more chaulking to do around the pool screen because they are saying that where the leak is coming from in our wall. Im not convinced yet though. I went out Sunday for a ride with my harley bud and his mrs. did about 100miles. Riding to me is like a bloody drug mate...hahahaha So we REALLY HAVE TO hook up and have these triumphs meet each other  If anything changes I will let ya know....pray this storm misses mate.

If Ike is coming, we will reschedule. I rode in Fay out of necessity and it was not my idea of a fun ride. Should Ike turn and not affect our weather, you are more than welcome to ride with me and meet the Brit Iron guys and lady. We definitely have to hook up; riding is in my blood.

Carl who are these guys? Do ya ride with these guys often?

So, Carl, does this mean I can cancel the wheelchair service?? What is Ike gonna do?? Looks like he's gonna whack Gitmo. I think we will have time to get in a lunchtime meet and greet at least. My time's kinda short. Gotta be back to church at 5:00.

Steve, make the ride if you can. Great company.

It looks like Tuesday before we will start seeing the effects of Ike. It that's the case, we will go ahead with our Sunday ride. I have ridden with or met all of these guys. I have been in the homes of two of them. Two, Fuzzy and Shyguy are members of this forum. Pete from Ft Myers is the only one I have not ridden with; but I have met him. He is a Triumph mechanic at the Ft Myers dealership.
