Our fair city of Halifax was founded in 1749 and incorporated in 1842. On the first weekend of August we celebrate "Natal Day" with parades, festivities and fireworks. This will be the 117th Natal Day celebration.
For anyone not familiar with the local geography I've attached a picture of the Canadian "Maritime provinces."
Nova Scotia (including Cape Breton Island) is attached to the Province of New Brunswick to the upper left and the island province of Prince Edward Island is just offshore. According to geologists, Cape Breton Island was once attached to Scotland billions of years ago. Nova Scotia is latin for New Scotland.
Cape Breton island is now attached to mainland NS by a causeway (built in the 1950's) and PEI is now attached to New Brunswick via a 12.9 km long bridge built in 1997.
Being relatively small in area, and surrounded by ocean, the Maritimes is a great place to ride motorcycles. The causeway and the new bridge makes riding around the Maritimes much easier. No more waiting in line for ferries.

Dave, natal means birth - pronounced nay-tul - hence bithday. Natal is used in the context of the birth of a nation or city.
your Natal, I believe, is pronounced nu-tawl - and I've heard of it, believe it or not :y2:
But I'm not an expert on geography or pronunciation. I just pretend to be one on the internet :y2: :y15:
