The photographer was the first out of the plane and I was second, followed by my son in law, daughter and granddaughter in law. My son in law was the first to land; he is the heaviest. I landed second followed by my granddaughter in law. I could see her above me all of the way down. Sheryl was the last to land; she is a light weight.
During free fall, i cold hear the roar of the wind and feel the wind; but there was no sensation of speed. My instructor told me were falling at about 140 knots/161 miles per hour/259 kilometers per hour. At 6000 ft he had my pop the chute and it got very quiet. My instructor and I could carry on a normal conversation. He had me take control of the chute, do turns - both slow and fast- and I made the approach to the LZ, at 600 ft, he took over for the very smooth landing.
