I posted a intro in new members section, and was directed here, picked up 73 tr5t, but Im sure its not the trail frame , (oil in frame right?) anyway first bike I rode in 1966 was a bonnie and almost 50 years later this presented itself and ,well I grabbed it up, looks like frame number is I, or 111 CH63848 so I have non matching bike with title, a lil tattered but strong runner all working condition clutch brakes lights all good, leaky amal but plenty of info on the fix, going to drop tubes and install boots , and from there idk not sure may run it as is this summer I think I figures out march 73 frame, what model would that be, if Im correct in thinking its not a trail.thanks guys good to be here

Howdy and welcome to TT from Southeast Texas.

I think you might have the right idea, ride her thru the summer to find out what, if anything you may want to change. It will be better to know the bike then make the changes than to make a bunch of changes and they not be the right ones.

I know very little about the older bikes but there are several here that knows a lot about them. Hopefully one of those will be along shortly.

You have somewhat of a "bitsa" with mostly late 60s stuff, a late 70s seat, and some aftermarket stuff. It was exactly what some previous owner wanted in his Triumph.

I also agree you should ride it a while and scroll around the forums. The ideas will come to you like a flood, then they will smash you into the rocks that are your budget.

The result will be fun, no matter which way the tide rolls...
