Georgia Courthouse Rides

I mentioned in another post that I was starting a ride program to visit every county courthouse in Georgia USA. I live in the Atlanta area. Georgia has 159 counties, second only to Texas (254). My reasons for doing this…1) ride more, 2) see the smaller towns and roads that connect them, 3) see the whole state, 4) I like big lists, and I cannot lie, 5) my daughter is a good ride buddy, 6) my ‘98 Trophy 900 has 60K miles and I want to take it to 100K.

The image below is my graphical tracking of where we’ve been. Blue is solo, red is with my daughter, a third color will be rides with my wife. I also love spreadsheets so I’m keeping track of dates, miles/trip and such.

I’ve already seen some incredible sights. Dade County was AWESOME!

Sitting here in the UK, I am really impressed with these ideas. I used to visit NC regulary on business and I wish I could do the same. The Blue Ridge Parkway is incredible. Good luck and safe riding Gentlemen.

I'm trying to think of something similar to do in the UK.

As a retired member of the Judiciary I can check on the number of Courts and locations, if you want help. As you may be aware, we have two levels of Courts some of which are in the same location but others are not. Many Justice Centres are in the centre of cities too. R

I’m actually Canadian, living in Georgia, so my answer could be wrong. Counties are about territorial governance, similar to provinces, parishes, or shires. I think I read that Georgia intended that a landowner could travel to their county seat in one day, so the courthouses end up being about 30 minutes apart by motorcycle. The county courthouse was connected to the governance of the county.

Each county is a separate jurisdiction.
Our sheriffs are elected for each county.
