Hi all, first timer here so go easy. Haha I found this forum searching in Google real quick because I figured I could use some expert advice (Because I am honest and humble that I don't know everything). I also tried searching for this same question just to make sure but couldn't find anything. So here it goes.

My question is about the "Gearchange Spindle Bushing" part number in the catalog T57. Mine started leaking and wearing out the "Gearchange Quadrant" part number T408/9. Same thing with the other bushing for the "Kickstarter Axle", but I got the same bushing for that matching the old with the new. I ordered and just received the new bushing for the "Gearchange Spindle", but notice on my old one that's worn, has only two notches in this, but the new one has four. Of course I bought it on eBay (no excuse haha). But it did say it replaces the T57. Fair enough, but my question is, what do these notches have in importance for this particular section of the bike, and should I just order the double notched one instead? Would the four notched one cause any harm? I'll add a picture to go with it side by side.

Thank you all for your wisdom in this. I hope this helps someone else later on down the road as well.

Hello and welcome to TT BBEER
I can't answer your question, but hopefully our resident guru, Grandpaul, will see this and help if he can.
Questions about classics should be posted in the classics section as not everyone reads introduction threads.

Thanks great to be here. And sorry, it said Bonnevilles all models, so I just assumed older models as well.

This is primarily a forum for the new line of Hinckley Triumph motorcycles, but there is also lots of interest in the old ones too.
Scroll down the forum and look for "Meriden classics" and that's where the "old stuff" is discussed and pictures posted.
We don't pretend to know everything, but will help if we can so don't hesitate to ask. It's what keeps the forum active.

I found the "Restoration & Rebuilding" section. I think that might be where I need it right? I see you're staff, is there any way you guys can move this post or do I need to delete and make a new one?
