From my user name you can guess that my appreciation for British bikes began with the BSA Lightning.

My first bike wasn't a Lightning or even the more affordable 441 Victor, but instead a slightly used 1968 Honda CB350. Then a Kawasaki W2 Commander. Then a car. It was a long time before I got another road bike, instead enjoying off road riding in the New England forests. Rides included Bultaco, Suzuki, Ossa, BSA, Honda, Yamaha and Sherco in chronological order. Riding included enduro and observed trials. It wasn't until 1995 that I bought a road bike, a 1965 BSA Lightning Rocket. Not the prettiest, but it started and ran. She wasn't the most reliable and required a good deal of Repair. Six years later I bought my current road ride, the Triumph 900 Thunderbird. It too has recently required a bit of work. More about that later. Thanks for welcoming me to the forum.
