Hello...
Jumping in here to learn more about my new-to-me 2009 America. I've got lots of years wrenching on bikes... Looking forward to working on this one.

hope you enjoy the bike-----I had a 2011 one in blue/white. It was a sunny day on two wheels , glorious riding experience at 55/60.mph. and to be fair dynamically much better than any 2011 Harley. for not too much money I suggest you change out the rear shocks ----they are a bit 'crashy'---Hagons at a mere £280 /pair are a good replacement. The pipes are notoriously quiet-----but be careful the triumph 'loud' pipes are really, really loud . I found them unacceptable. -----I eventually made up a set of baffles made from lenght of 1/4 inch threaded rod ----four discs of 1/8 aluminium (drilled full of 1/4 inch holes). separated by stainless steel pan scourers, all kept in place with nuts.

carl, i was actually cut short by a hail from my better half-----I meant to carry on to say that I just added /subtracted disc/scourers until it sounded good to me.------the whole plot is held in place by a lenght of 1.5mm mild steel strip bent to keep the rod centre of pipe bolted onto the treaded rod as per the discs and the end is drilled to take a small nut/bolt which fixes through the drain hole in the end of the pipe -----once in place it can't be seen and there is no damage to the pipe. It works a treat. HOWEVER here in Britain the MOT is becomming much more strict and fewer testers are prepared to turn a blind eye to any lettering on the pipe which says 'not for highway use' so , in the end i had to refit the standard pipes. I suppose i could have ground out the lettering or replaced the pipes after the MOT , but by that time I was intending to changeout the bike anyway. SO I am sure you will enjoy the bike and with a bit of shuggling about you will make it your own. Good luck.

Thanks for the info... Yes pipe replacement is in the cards for sure.. I don't mind quiet...actually a nice change since my Harley days... But I would like to announce my presence a bit more while on the road. I saw the replacement "off road only" slash cut pipes on JCS or one of the websites for around $600. I am tempted to buy them.
They are not as strict about pipe noise where I am from but I don't want obnoxious noise. while I admire your skill on creating baffles, I would like to find a satisfactory bolt on option.
