My 2011 EFI T100 has been doing great since I bought it last year. Put almost 2500 miles on it, for a total of 8,000. Yesterday, toward the end of a 250 miles trip the engine started to intermittently lose power, running smoothly at idle, but holding back, every now and then, and then more and more frequently, at higher throttle. It also backfired pretty badly. Any suggestions? The closest dealer is at least 45 minutes driving away, and I am not so keen to ride the freeway with an engine I don't trust.

Sounds like timing is not advancing. Could be crank position sensor going bad. I have heard of a few of these failing. Maybe research this and see if it matches your symptoms. Don't think it's a expensive fix. Any reputable motorcycle repair shop should be able to fix this for you. If you have the repair manual, you may be able to do it yourself.

Just a crazy thought: Is it possibly the ignition switch or its wires? When the bike loses power, pull in the clutch and see if it stalls; if so, try "playing" with the switch to see if it picks up again. Hopefully, you can do this with the bike in neutral and in your yard.
Hope this helps: Jim
