I don't know if its just me but lately I am finding DSTV really weak. Most of the time if it is not a repeat it is also just not worth watching. The biggest problem is we don't have too many choices really. I was thinking of giving Top TV or what ever they call it a go but am not sure if it would be worth the effort.

We're seeing all the repeats while we wait for the big networks to release the new season of programmes. DSTV are also obligated by contract to show the same programme x number of times - this is standard with the big US networks. Ask the US guys how mzny re-runs they see on pay TV. It also depends on what bouquet you have - full or select.

I have the full but it really seems to be getting bad these days I know you can expect repeats but they seem to be showing old programs from some time back not just repeats of the new ones like I seem to remember it being.

I have satellite TV with many HD channels, but there is a lot of repeated shows and programs - and many times a day. But some of the nature and documentry programs are worth watching again.
I also have three movie channels that show old movies which I enjoy. They're repeated many times too, but at least there is a selection.
When TV is crap I enjoy reading.

Rocky - It is much the same here. We have Nat Geo, Discovery, Crime etc as well as plenty of sports channels. Movies too.
Trouble is.... the repeats of repeats. The general quality of the programming is gradually getting poorer. And all this for approx. US$90.00

This is what I was also thinking that it is slowly getting worse as time goes by

TV is/has become a wasteland of crap reality shows that I never watch - well almost.
I confess that since all the silly yelling stopped I sometimes watch Orange County Chppers :y2:
Some of the HD channels have excellent nature, historical and travel related shows that I really enjoy.
These days I find it hard to believe that as a student I hated history but love and appreciate it now :y13:
But sometimes the brutality of animal survival in nature is hard to watch.
When it comes to blood and guts and animals eating each other I have to look away or change the channel.

I really enjoy TV there are some great shows when you can find them
Me too, but I don't waste my life in front of a TV.
During the winter when I'm home a lot I like to wach a bit of TV in the evening and can usually find something to watch.
I scan the old movies channels and record some for watching later. They actually made some pretty good movies in the "old days" before movies became just a jumble of special effects. I like war, western, detective, mystery or spy movies. The fact that many are B & W doesn't bother me at all. That's part of their charm.
They don't have many John Wayne, Gregory Peck and Jimmy Stewart's these days.

We also have that classic movie channel (TCM) and when I first started watching it they had old movies B&W now the movies don't seem that old anymore that they show, or am I just getting older
