Yes, I've seen it before and it should be required viewing for all motorists.
For some unknown reason (well, we probably know the reasons) there has been a dramatic increase in car/pedestrian accidents in the past year here in the city.
Just yesterday in broad daylight a woman and her two children were struck by a 19 year-old driver in a marked crosswalk.
Fortunately, they were not seriously hurt. Many were not so lucky.
Most of the time it's the motorist who is at fault, but I can't tell you how many time I've watched dead-heads step off the curb with ear buds blazing and not looking one way or the other before they step into the street.
And don't get me started on the same dead-heads doing the same thing at night wearing dark clothing :y40:

Rocky, I couldn't agree with you more about pedestrians stepping out into traffic without looking. They think they're invincible in that crosswalk. Younger people seem to be the worst offenders. 3-4000 lbs vehicles don't stop on a dime.
Vehicles these days are taking away from driver involvement with all the safety nannies that are built into them. Add in the distraction of sending and receiving text messages that many seem to do even though it's illegal, and you've got a recipe for accidents. I don't think it's going to get better, so we(the responsible drivers) have to be extra vigilant for the ones that aren't.

I read one accident report where the LEO asked the car driver why she was texting. The response will send chills up your spine. . . "Well I was only driving. I needed something to pass the time."
