Congratulations, Candy! :y115: Very nice. I haven't owned a horse for years; but I grew up with them. I owned horses until I returned to active duty in 1980. I'm looking forward to the pics and vids.

Ah, good sport. I never owned any jumpers. We were involved in barrel racing. I am so glad you are able to get reinvolved in your passion. That is way cool. A fine looking horse by the way. Enjoy!!

Thanks Carl...... Giving you a virtual hug from this side.....

Well i am leaving work now, to go ride my new boy for the first time, will update you tomorrow!!!

Candy, that is awesome. I am so envious. I love to ride; however, due to my back injury, my horse riding days are very limited. Enjoy that beauty.

Yeah i love my horses, thank you very much!

If i could move into a a deserted place with just my horses and nothing else no cell phones nothing, a little log cabin, i would be the happiest girl in the world.........

And the first ride went really well..... He is very green (for those who dont know horse terms - Green means he does not know much, and needs to be taught basically everything) but i am going to enjoy the hours of schooling that i am going to put into him!!!!

Thanks everyone for caring...... Love my family away from home, except Merlin cause he is close to my home......... But you are all great...

Thanks again Merlin for Posting pics, will bring you some beers this weekend after riding! :y18:

You sound as infatuated as my Daughter....as you can see from the text she added to a photo of her horse Shadow (from another thread):

Dave the Boerperd looks similar to our Cleveland Bay and seems to have been bred the same way.

The Cleveland Bay is the oldest breed of English horse and was developed in the North of England. It was used for agriculture and also as a coach horse. In 1883 the formation of the Cleveland Bay Society began with the first Stud Book being published in 1884. During the period covering the two World Wars Cleveland Bay numbers declined until in 1962 only 4 stallions remained in England. Much work was done to save the breed and it is now a popular horse used for producing show jumpers and hunters.
Height Of The Cleveland Bay Horse

The Cleveland Bay horse stands 15.2 to 16 hh.
Colour Of The Cleveland Bay Horse

Bay. Some have a white star on the forehead.
Breed Characteristics Of The Cleveland Bay Horse

Cleveland bay horseThe Cleveland Bay has a large head with convex face, long strong neck, sloping shoulders, long deep body with powerful hindquarters. Plenty of stamina and good jumper.
Temperament Of The Cleveland Bay Horse

Intelligent, calm and sensible. (Like Triumph owners )

The photo is of a 2 year old Deb bought and broke herself , but unfortunately he only made 15.2 and was too small for her .

Clevelands are on the at risk register as a victim of their own popularity, having been bred to everything else to induce strength and stamina, but no one wants a Pure bred which was primarily a coach horse .
