Ouch for you and worse for your speedy. Glad you're OK though. Take full advantage of your bumps and bruises and make sure you have everyone in your house taking care of your slightest little whim and fancy. You've gotta play this one for all it's worth.
Excellent that they're going to prosecute the idiot - since when is making a U turn on a highway legal anyway. Idiot.

Get well soon!

your not wrong Carl
All the hurty bits are starting to show
Trouble is, I cant even get comfortable in bed so sleeping isn't working either.
Never mind, I am alive and in a week or to the body will have healed and I will be awaiting a repaired bike or a cheque in lieu.

Harry, tomorrow and the following day will be the worse. After that it starts letting up. Just hang in there; you will definitely feel better. If it helps any, I've been there!

Glad you are O.K. You'll feel much better when you swing your leg back over your repaired Speedy. Hope your recovery is fast.

Have just got word back that my yellow friend is dead
Just have to wait now to see wot the insurance pays out so I can start looking for a replacement.
Hope like hell I can find one that loves me back like the last one did.

I believe its parts cost Gareth
It would seem it doesn't take a hell of a lot of damage to write a bike off these days.
Mind you, I know that a new tank alone is close to 2k, so when you factor in labour and freight, things start to add up real fast.

If it's a write-off, how does insurance work in NZ???

I mean, does the insurance company take the bike and gives you a checque? Or, can you keep the written-off bike?

Would be nice to keep it and part it out since there are loads of good stuff still there.

Harry, can you buy it back from the insurance company and repair it yourself? I have done that with a car. I'm sure sorry to hear she is totaled. You are right; today most bikes are a write off in an accident.

Basicly the insurance company pays out the fair market value of the bike prior to the prang and they get the wreck.
If you want the wreck, you take the money, then bid or tender for it against anyone else who wants it.

So it's basically the same there as here.

I know you'd hate doing it, but you could probably make more than you paid the insurance company parting it out on eBay or somewhere.

So what will the replacement Triumph be?
[/quote]

I,m waiting for the insurance figure to be finalised, so wont be sure for a few days.
It will be a speedy or america tho.

I'm sure sorry it was totaled. But on the bright side, you will get the thrill of a new ride and a new warranty. Maybe you can even find a good used one and save some money. Keep us updated on your search and what you get. Have you considered the the T-Bird at all?
