Hey all,
I just bought myself a mighty pretty silver 1999 Daytona 955i this week and haven't been able to wipe the smile off my face since

The bike however had been previously lowered with a lowering kit by a previous owner, so my plan is to return the suspension to its standard ride height. I have no experience at all with lowered bikes though, so I'm hoping that someone here can verify what i am about to do.

1.
As I understand it, the rear suspension was lowered by simply replacing the standard drop link with an longer (?) after-market link.
The original drop link was provided with the bike, so I intend to just swap it back and do nothing else to the rear suspension.
Would that be correct?

2.
The front suspension appears to have been screwed right down to its lowest setting.
I plan to simply unjust it back to its normal hight and do nothing else.
Is that OK?

3.
The original clip-on handlebar clamps have been replaced with much bulkier stainless steel units. I'm assuming that this was done to compensate for the change in handlebar possition as a result of screwing the suspension down so low?
Is this a correct assumption, and if so, should I be looking to swap the existing clamps with original clamps?

4.
The bike now has a shorter side stand, so I plan to swap it back with an original stand. Nothing more to be said about that.

I would gratefully accept any and all advice that I could get from all you knowledgable people.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there , the drop links are easy enough to change back as long as you have something to support the bike.

The standard factory suspension settings for the fork are for standard solo rider =
spring preload = 5 rings showing
rebound damping from fully screwed in = 1 turn out
compression from fully turned in = 1 turn out

I would sort your side stand first before doing anything else , and the handle bar clamps are a personal thing if you like then keep um if not change um back .

Good luck with sorting her out there a great bike TUP

Thanks for that shanered6. Lots of very useful information there. Side stand is now on order.

When you say "support the bike" do you mean the rear wheel needs to be suspended off the ground?

No you need to suport the middle of the bike so the back wheel is just off the floor , so when you remove the old links the wheel is able to move up and down freely .
