Commander 1700 And Hagon Nitros Rear Shocks?

Hello.
Been in touch with Hagon about replacing the rear shocks on my Commander with Hagon Nitros - they claim they've never made/supplied Nitros for the Thunderbird. I'm pretty sure I've read on various Forums about members with Commanders who have Nitros fitted, so if you're one of them , it would great if you could post here-
- The type of nitro - normal or piggyback
- Approximately when you ordered them
(And if possible, what spring strength you ordered and the units length)

hi they supplied me with a set in 2018, they are uprated for heavy touring, they are normal type ( fitted upside down) but work brilliantly. as i have leather panniers you cant see them

Cheers Steve - i've got a set from Hagon, just need to fit them now.
Interested in you fitting them upside down, I've got hard panniers fitted, so this may be an option.

the hagon guys, mentioned this is the way they should be fitted, and i noted that the label was up the right way, i have had these on for 12k miles. so good you don't notice them

Neither hagon or progressive have shocks for the Tbird. What does that mean? It simply means that while they have shocks that will fit and work on the TBbird, the companies have not tested them for that bike and therefore they are not sanctioned for that bike. Thats how they add a bike to their fitment list of shock models....they test a shock to assure it's good to go. With hagon and progressive, they both have shocks that owners have bought for their Tbirds but are not sanctioned by the companies. So they will not guarantee their safety or product reliability/rideability on a Tbird.

That said i owned both the hagon nitro and progressives, the latter who's model i forget but i think it may be the 330s. Anyways i didn't like either one and went back to stock. I found both felt stiff and jolted my spine when i hit even small irregularities and when i tried to adjust them softer that helped but then they didn't handle well enough to make them worth using. I actually prefer the stock shocks over both. That should never happen with a expensive aftermarket shock. Whether thats because the companies never tested them and make appropriate adjustments to the design, i dunno. But i found both to be a waste of $ unless you are willing to sacrifice comfort for handling. And because the stocks are good as is, the ony real handling advantage is when pushing the bike really hard. That was my findings anyways. Luckily with the nitros i was able to get a refund but the progs i sold for a loss. Oh, and one did not fit right and you had to use a different washer ior something....been years so i don't recall exactly and don't recall which it was. (i think the progs)

Hi Steve - one thing I forgot to ask you was, were your Hagons standard length, or did you go for a variation (plus or minus 10 or 20 mm) to try to improve handling?

Don’t intend to sound negative but, the normal atmosphere has 79% nitrogen and all gasses will respond equally to temperature and pressure.
Read about Boyles Law and Dalton’s Law.
Nitrogen tyres and shocks are a total imaginary rip off
