SO, before I purchased my 1200 XC, I owned a KLR 650. I loved that bike, reliable to a fault, but like many bikes the seats were ok but not as comfortable for more than an hour ride.
Many KLR riders had mentioned to me that the $20 Coleman ATV seat pad(CASP) would be an inexpensive and viable option or a more comfortable ride. It was, I could ride all day long.

When I picked up my XC, I thought the seat was wonderful but after an hour in the saddle, my ass was in the same situation as before. The CASP in its original configuration was much too long, so I took the bike and the pad to an upholsterer and showed them what I wanted. 30min and $20 later it was done. Its so comfortable and gives me another 1/2" of hight. Will take the bike on a longer ride his weekend.

8600 miles later, it still looks and feels great. I recently went on a 333 mile ride, over the Ortega highway, around lake Elsinore, out to Idyllwild, over the hill to Palm Spring, around the SE side of the Sultan Sea, through the Anzo State desert park ( misspelled that) on the State road S5 I think, onto the 78 then the 79 though Warner Springs and Temecula, onto the 15 N, around the SE side of Lake Elsinore back over the Ortega (74), to the 5A and I to San Clemente. 11 hours later and a very sore back and shoulders but my butt was good.
I'm 43 and underwent emergency back surgery 3 years ago with an injury overseas left me paralyzed from the waste down for 3 days. I can now walk, but I have total S1 nerve damage to my right left which has left my R calf unusable and numb from my R butt check to the bottom of my foot.
I live with severe back pain to start with and I can't hold a normal job as I have more bad days then good. The only real pleasure I have in life is waking up in beautiful Southern Kalifornia ( excluding the politics) and getting on my XC for a 100 mile ride or less. Any longer my the ride is no longer enjoyable.
Enough of my whining.
In conclusion, I love the Colman ATV seat cover. It has about 30K miles on it.
Cheers.

When I traded in my Girlie, I kept my ATV pad too. I haven't put it on the 800XC yet but it's ready to go when I decide it's time. TUP
