Five and a half months after the 7.3 earthquake which rocked the city, christchurch suffered a devastating blow today as a 6.3 earthquake struck in the middle of the day.
As the epicentre was only 5kilometers deep and 10 Ks from the city centre, the shock was much greater.
At this time 65 are confirmed dead with many more expected.
A very dark day in nz history for sure.

I just heard the devestating news. Very, very sad and my heart goes out to those people. Once is bad enough, but to be hit a second time in such a short time is beyond devestating.

Daughter and stepson both in the Christchuch area but apart from a few pictures falling off the wall everything okay. Thanks for the e - mail Devo.

Really sorry to hear this. This is a sad day for a great people and country. My prayers go out to them. I sure hope our brother and sister Triumph Talk members are okay.

The video i saw was scary. Like something out of a sci-fi movie. Horrible. Then this morning i heard those people held hostage by somali pirates were all killed ! Why they didn't slaughter every one of those scumbags is beyond my understanding. Those poor people were on a mission for their church !!!

What a world...nothing but bad news every day.

My prayers are with those who have suffered and lost loved ones in this disaster. Avion and Geoff, I am sure thankful your family members are OK. Thanks for that update.

What has happened in New Zealand and Australia is just so hard for us on the other side of world to truly understand the devastating impact on individuals. I just watch speechless.
My thoughts and prayers with all and their families.

The Salvation Army is an outstanding and honest organization. We will contribute to the relief effort. There are a lot of very unfortunate folks who have to put their lives back together.
