Yes it is.
These days many of these storms weaken but still bring damaging winds and heavy rain up our way.
As a result we have been paying more attention to hurricanes in the past 8-9 years.
The damage from Hurricane Juan that smashed into us in 2003 is still evident in some places.
I may have spoken too soon.
The storm lost hurricane status and is moving up the US coast bringing heavy rain, but is rated below a tropical storm.
We will probably get some of that rain on Thursday into Friday.
The center of the storm passed about six miles north of the ranch where my property is. There is no damage except for limbs and debris. That area is under a severe drought. The rancher is having to feed her cattle hay just like she does in the winter. She has her herd spread out over the entire 300 acres in small groups to protect her pastures. The rain was a Godsend. It is not enough to break the drought; but it brings major relief. The ranch is about 70 miles inland. It was still tropical storm status as it approached the ranch.
Here in Central Florida, we got much needed rain and no damaging winds.
