Hey guys!

New here and this is the reason I joined. I have a 2013 Bonnie t100. Had it about 4 years and never an issue. She doesn't always like firing up without a little choke.

Now it seems like something in the charging system has gone bad. I did my own research and don't trust what I saw for prices and components.

I'm in an odd spot that the bikes out of state being shipped to me. I'd like to have the parts ready for the guy to work on it and be on the road asap.

Any place y'all recommend?

Daniel, how old do you think the battery is? If it the same battery that came with the bike, it is time to change it. In warm places, the useful life is 4-5 years, while in cool places, that can be extended sometime to 7 years. Then, if you are still having issues, it would be time to track down charging system problems.

The 865 bonnevilles are sensitive to low voltage when starting, it seems the ECU is set with a very conservative voltage threshold below which it will not fire the motor. I have suffered from that in the past even with a good battery when doing a lot of commuting in the winter.

Even if you replace the battery it is also a good idea to take a couple of simple steps to beef up the charging system and reduce the load on the battery. A common mod is to run a heavy gauge fused wire directly from the regulator to the battery, keeping the length as short as possible. This will boost the charging voltage.

Another mod which I have often done is run a heavy gauge fused wire directly from the battery to power the headlight via relays in the headlight shell, reduces the drain on the battery and should also give a brighter headlight.
