Should we change over and lose our gallery

I have been looking at the vBulletin 4.0 Publishing Suit and really like it. So I was wondering how we would all feel about changing TT over to this software. We would be able to convert the following from this software

* Import usergroup
* Import user
* Import forum
* Import thread
* Import post
* Import Private messages
* Import poll
* Import attachment
* Import moderator

The down side would be that we would lose our gallery and have to start it from scratch again. So before I even look further into doing this how do we all feel, please cast your vote.

The new software would give us the following features http://www.vbulletin.com/index.php?do=features (remember look under the 4.0 Publishing Suit column)

Oh and as a bonus feature Carl would finally get his light blue theme :y114:

Well....this is a classic "between a rock and a hard place" situation.
On the one hand I like the new publishing suit, but OTOH I hate the thought of losing the gallery.
But I suppose some of the gallery is no longer relavant and could stand to be thinned out a bit. There are pics in there from former members who have not been around for a long time.
I'll vote for option #2, but I don't really feel that way. I doubt that I will go to the trouble of posting all my pics again - some maybe.
How about an option #4 "I may post some old pics again, but then I may not."
Just kidding.
In the end whatever is best for TT is the way to go even if it does upset an apple cart.

I voted for number three. I don't even have a lot of the photos I posted any longer. That said, I really like VBulletin software and it works well and is easy to use. Maybe we could find an off site gallery, transfer our gallery to it, and link to it via a portal? I would hate to lose the gallery. There are some good pics and some good "how to's" in there.

AJ, I like the current software, too. VBulletin software is the Cadillac of forum software. From an administrative point of view, it is easier to configure and manage with more options. I would favor switching if we could save the gallery. If not, SMF software works just fine.

I have found that attempting to get to my photo gallery is only possible by "refreshing" the screen until one of my photos comes up on the top of the screen, then clicking on it, then clicking on my username in the forum process hyperlink, THEN going to the gallery section where my various bike pix are (about 100 or more photos, I think)

Never mind, I can start over.

The software does have some some cool functions for both the members and the admin. The big show stopper is our gallery but we could get one of the developers to write us a utility to import our current gallery. I suppose we would be looking at around $50 - $100 US for that. Right now I feel that the forum cannot afford that type of extravagant expenditure. So for now I suppose we will just stay as we are.

However don't feel disappointed I can easily go on a Geeking spree and make enough changes to this software so we are all confused enough to think we did change ..... now where is my to-do list :y24: :y24:
