There will be a connecting link in the chain somewhere. This may be a spring link which will be obvious or a riveted link which is not so obvious (you are looking for a pair of pins coming through the side plate that appear to be hollow not solid)

The real questions is, why are you asking? If it's time to replace your chain then you can use any chain that piques your fancy (that fits the sprockets). If you change the chain, it's recommended you also change both sprockets as well. I use these guys: www.sprocketcenter.com

You can buy model specific chains (520 for a '15 T-100) with the correct number of links and both sprockets as a "kit."

While on topic of chains....Anybody please comment on the difference between X-ring and XW-ring chains. Thanks, as I just noticed my 1200 Scrambler (MY23) has the XW-ring chain while my old Triumph was equipped with simply labeled X-ring.

The “XW-ring” is made of an advanced Nitrile Butadiene composite and features three contact lips and two convex outer stabilizers. This means three lubrication pools to protect against high speed abrasion, extreme heat build up, torsional flex and loss of lubricant. These are best suited to MX or off-road bike applications.
