When did Triumph change from carbs to EFI in Europe? Same question, in North America?

I have a nagging recollection that it happened in Europe one or two years before North America. But, I would like confirmation or correction.

My 2008 Bonneville T100 is carbureted (USA) but one of our newer members thought 2007 was the last year for carburetors.

Among the reasons I wanted a 2005 air cooled Thruxton with carburetors is those features are not fake. I kind of agree that modern motorcycles shouldn’t just mimic the language of the older classics, but explore how to create a modern classic updated to whatever the tech used is. If it’s EFI then the question should be how to make it classic and timeless with just using elements that no longer serve a purpose. If it’s water cooled then it no longer needs the fins. Strive for simplicity and you will create a classic without it being fake. This type of trickery isn’t limited to motorcycles. Car manufacturers have done similar things and also added fake noisemakers to bring engine noise into the passenger compartment after making the engine super quiet. I guess there’s a demand for it, but I’ve removed those type of component when I get a chance.

I missed the boat on a mint condition actual carbureted '06 T100 a few months ago. Had maybe 10K miles on it. Workshop kept by a retired USMC COL and going for a VERY reasonable price. Been kicking myself ever since.

I like the what Triumph did with the fuel injectors on the Speed Twin. I've never looked underneath those covers, no time for it, but I'm betting they're concealing the typical fakery.
