HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Costumed superhero characters were involved in a brawl Wednesday afternoon on the streets of Hollywood.

Witnesses said two Captain Americas and a Spider-Man threw punches at each other in front of the Madame Tussauds kiosk, feet away from the Dolby Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard.

“All of a sudden, two Captain Americas and Spider-Man started circling around me. Captain America just hit one of them and Spider-Man started bleeding,†said Vernardo Stroud.

Stroud said he was forced to step in.

“I was stunned at the moment. Then all of a sudden, it just got to me…I got to get them out of the way. The tourists just looked around like they were enjoying the moment,†he said.

Juan Diego, a native of Spain, told KCAL9’s Suraya Fadel that he was one of the men involved in the fight.

He said the group was arguing over allegations of tourist harassment and issues of sidewalk territory.

“I tell them the truth. I tell them, ‘You’re a thief!’†said the Captain America impersonator. “That is not good for the image, the perception, the spirit of Hollywood. We are all ambassadors.â€

AC Simmons, who dresses up like Batman on a daily basis, said tensions continue to grow among many of the superheroes who work for tips near TCL Chinese Theatre.

“There are a group of characters who are actually strong-arming tourists and actually asking for $20 tips, which is ridiculous. And they force them to pay,†he said.

I work in Hollywood ! :y13: You don't know the 1/2 of it. I could tell you stories. oh boy could I tell you stories !!! It's a circus to be sure, albeit a very sick one. And those characters that dress up and take pics with you then ask for tips.....they are the dregs of the earth. the tourists think they are some sort of city funded/sanctioned characters but when they walk away from the blvd down the side streets to get to thier cars and leave, thats when you see who they are. the costumes come off and thier toothless drug addicts and such. It truly is a pathetic town. Fortunately i don't live anywhere near there.

Well, i dunno if anyone heard. But a couple days ago some 23 year old woman took a picture of 3 transients who then asked her for money. When she refused they put her up against the wall in front of the dolby (formerly Kodak) theatre and stabbed her to death. I work a block from there. The victim from what i'm getting may not have been too far removed from the hollywood life herself, not that that makes it ok. This was at 8PM when it's crowded on the Blvd, and there were 100's of people that saw this ! Luckily they caught all 3 and they are being arraigned for murder. I hope they fry.

On a side note, now theres a guy who stands there on the most crowded corner (right across from the murder location) for thousands of tourists to see with a huge cardboard sign about 3 feet wide that just says F**K YOU. No reason, just stands there for hours with this sign for all children and everyone to see. What really angered me and made me even sicker was that I saw 3 hollywood cops that walk the beat go up to him, talk to him in what appeared to be a friendly manner and smiling, then just stroll away letting him remain with his F you sign on one of the most crowded tourist intersections in hollywood. I hate this place. They should remove him and castrate him with a rusty knife. Scum of the earth.

Yeah I read about that too. She refused to give them $1.00 for taking the picture.

BTW: After WWII, my Grandparents moved from Pittsburgh to Hollywood. Eventually, all my Uncles (5) moved out there too, leaving my Dad and our family the only ones back East. I remember going out there for both my Grandparents funerals. They are buried at Forrest Lawn Cemetery. I remember they lived on Gordon St. Which runs between Santa Monica Blvd and W. Sunset Blvd. My one Uncle was a barber when he left PA. but became a "hair stylist" in CA. His shop was on Rodeo Drive and he often did movie star's hair and toupee. He was Burt Reynold's friend and stylist (for his hair piece).
