Well we into our bush fire season and in the last few days we seeing them breaking out all around the city. We have a valley one street down from my house and they have been fighting this fire for two days now. Fire air services have been brought in to help with this and we have two helicopters water bombing the fires in the valley behind my house. Their flight path to the closest water source is directly is directly over our house so needless to say it is rather loud every time they buzz our house.

I went out to take some photos in the yard as they flew over and got a nice shower from the water spraying out the water bucket. BGRIN

This is them coming over my house and you can see the water spilling out

I used to hang out in the yard just like that and watch those cats fly back and forth putting out brush fires over in Cape Town during the dry season down there. We must’ve had over a dozen of them in one season, a good 3 or 4 of them right on Table Mountain. Same yellow Hueys and those Air Tractor/Ag Wagon crop duster looking birds. Seeing how they’re almost always right around cities, the likely culprits are wantonly careless sleezebags discarding cigarettes or bergies lighting cooking fires.

IIRC Knysna took heavy damage a couple years ago from a brushfire. That was a real bummer because that town is picturesque and was surrounded by forest. Lit right outside town limits, so probably compliments of the same reprehensible demographic.

It’s a real problem down there, and all too common.
