Yep, due to a non-servicing phase I managed to cook the rear disc on my Speed Triple.
The pads wore out and trashed the disc through friction and heat.
There wasn't enough meat left on it to skim it clean again. I think the minimum is 4.5mm and it was sitting at 4.75 with alot of grooving.![Shy :shy: :shy:](/data/ttsmilies/yolks/shy.png)
I left it for a few months, seeing as I wasn't riding much due to health problems - but after getting back on the bike I realised that it was a little bit dodgy as you couldn't even lock the rear wheel up when literally stamping on the lever.
I phone Duncan at TTC and nearly had a heart attack, good job I was sitting down at the time. R2010.00 for a rear disc.
He then suggested trying to get a third party disc.
After a couple of days phoning around I sourced a rear disc from Race! in Midrand, near Kyalami.
It's a World Superbike disc, used by Ten Kate apparently. Wave too.
Fitting it is a piece of cake, just take the rear wheel off.
I'm not sure it's any better, but for R1270.00 it's a steal compared to the OEM from Triumph. The rear brakes have returned to a decent setup, ie - being able to stop me. :>
Oh by the by, it's the same disc as a Honda CBR 1000 RR
