DAYTONA BEACH -- Bruce Rossmeyer, one of the nation’s largest Harley-Davidson dealers, was killed today in a motorcycle crash in Wyoming.

A family friend said Rossmeyer, 66, of Ormond Beach, was riding with several motorcyclists when they pulled out to pass a pickup. Rossmeyer was the last in line and was killed when the truck strayed into his lane, hitting his motorcycle, according to the friend who didn’t want to be named.

For those that have made the pilgrimage to Daytona Beach for Bike Week and Biketober Fest, Bruce Rossmeyer is the man who developed and built Destination Daytona. He is BIG in the motorcycle world and was a very community oriented, philanthropist. He also owned the Triumph dealership at Destination Daytona.

Bruce, thank you for all you've done for motorcycling in Florida and across the nation. Rest in peace.

Photos from Bruce Rossmeyer's funeral.Note the motorcycle drawn hearse. I have seen this hearse used before.

Died in a real freaky way. Passing a pickup with a trailer making a left as he was attempting to pass it. It's a shame. He died doing what he loved most on his way to Sturgis...in Wyoming

Bruce,
You sound like a cool dude. Sorry you had to die, and sorry you weren't wearing a helmet. It may have helped.
It is always hard to make a judgement call when riding as to whether you should pass or not. It always is a temptation when you have the power to pass.......
Rod
