What the hell happened to the weather??? :y35: Gales in the Cape, black frost in the Free State, blooming freezing here, run-a-way fires in Mpuma and Gustav in Luisianna.

How is it going with all you evacuees on that side of the pond. The weather dudes recon it's the storm of the century and worse than Katrina. Our freezing bones are thinking of you all. :y115:

It is not nearly as bad as Katrina. That is just hype. Katrina was a category 4 hurricane; Gustav is a cat 2. That means the the storm surge will not be nearly as bad as that of Katrina which flooded and destroyed everything 1/4 of a mile (402 meters) inland. The damage to New Orleans occurred because a levee broke. Most of New Orleans is below the sea level and below the river bed bed of the Mississippi River.

I almost feel embarrassed to say that we've had magnificent weather here in Pittsburgh the last few days.

Not a single cloud to be found and temps in the high 70 to low 80s (F).

That's what it's like being 8 or so hours from the closest ocean.
