The BMW K100 may seem an unlikely candidate for customization, but builders have discovered the beauty in the “Flying Brick.” The heavy block of engine, laid flat in the frame, keeps the center of gravity low and transmits power efficiently to the shaft drive.
Enter Giorgio De Angelis of Rome’s De Angelis Elaborazioni, who specializes in custom BMW motorcycles. He built this particularly “flying brick” for a friend of his who is an artist and photographer. Giorgio kept the modifications subtle but spot-on, producing a classy custom K100. Below, we get the full story.

I am passionate about the two wheels since I was a child and I was lucky enough to own many scooters and motorcycles of any kind, participating in official and regional scooter, enduro and cross races. Then, as my age progressed, the displacement of my bikes also increased, until I stopped on Japanese racing bikes for regional superbike races.
Maturing — we avoid the term “aging” — that does not belong to the spirit of us bikers. I realized that I preferred more to change and drive vintage bikes than running on the track.
In my spare time and for pure leisure I dedicate myself to customizing my old motorcycles, thus cultivating my passion for the world of engines.
I mainly modify old BMWs, but not only because I think they are fantastic bikes despite their age. They are reliable bikes and once modified they can express their beauty at their best. I modify them making them unique, endowing them with specialized accessories and modified superstructures, often built directly by me, so as to appear as real special motorcycles.
This is a BMW K100, year 1984.
I created the bike for a friend of mine who is a photographer and an artist — for this I called K-art.
The bike chassis is entirely original, has only slightly hardened suspensions. Mounted the front and rear lights with LED.
