Soldiers Angels is a voluntary US organization that aids soldiers and their families in various was from building and remodeling houses for disabled soldiers to sending care packages to those stationed out of the US. Help for Heroes is the UK counterpart.

The Brit Iron Rebels, of which at least six of us here are members, had a Christmas raffle to raise money for these to organizations. Below is a photo of NCBonnie presenting the check to Soldiers Angels in the amount of $1715. A like amount was or will be presented to Help for Heroes by UK BIR members.

The Patriot Guard Riders have worked with Soldiers Angels on numerous projects. The biggest project in Florida involved tearing down and completely rebuilding a hurricane damaged house to make it ADA compliant for a badly wounded, permanently disabled soldier. He and his family moved in last January to their brand new 3/2 home. This was a joint project with the community, Soldiers Angels, and Patriot Guard riders. In another few months, their new home will be mortgage free.

Heart warming news, I support Help the Heroes campaign where ever possible, though the thing that annoys me immensely is our Heroes should not need charity, its the Governments responsibility.

Hear! Hear! Brother, I could not agree with you more.

The cheque has now been presented to Help for Heroes in the United Kingdom. With BIR representatives from UK, USA, France, Germany, Italy, Norway and Belgium we had the happy privilege to hand over the second half of the money raised in our Christmas Raffle.

Help for Heroes rep James Gill came over from Middlesex to receive our donation of $1785 which converted to UK Sterling equates to approximately £1302.

Unlike the Soldiers Angels who also help the serving troops in the field of duty, Help for Heroes at present concentrate their efforts on help for the wounded and families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, so that is where the money will be well spent.

James was truly amazed at the efforts made by all who contributed to the raffle and asked that I express his thanks to you all on behalf of HFH.

He is also interested in taking his motorcycle test and I think we could even have a future member waiting in the wings as he too prefers the good old British retro bikes as opposed to power ranger space rockets.
