Armor is good when you ride

About 15 years ago my wife and I were visiting our nations capital, Ottawa, and were taking in the museums, both art and military. One museum had an impressive display of European armor on loan from a museum in Europe. It was the first time I had ever seen armor, and to be within arms length of it, was quite a thrill. The workmanship, details and decorations is amazing, but what also impressed me was how small the men were back then.
One display in particular caught my eye. I'm not sure what the significance of it was, but it made me smile.
