Does anyone know if the brake anti rattle plates came as a standard part on the T140 when they were originally built? The Seeker suggested using springs instead which is a good idea but I was just wondering if they originally came with the plates. Cheers, Rossi

Hi Rossi,

No anti rattle plates were fitted to the pads. Seeker is on the money by using light springs over the locating split pins. I use this method on both my classic Trumpies and it works well.

It drove me crazy for about a Month trying to figure out where that noise was coming from. I knew it disappeared when I applied the brakes. I tried tightening this and that. I thought it was my license plate at one time. I tried coasting it down a hill. Then when cleaning the front rim, I realized I could reproduce the noise by rotating the wheel back and forth with bike on the centre stand. I then noticed the pads moving around.

It took some looking around to find some spiral springs....but that "cured" it immediately! You just have to be careful in the future to remember those springs are in there when you change pads so they don't go flying across the garage!

ok, thanks for letting me know, I know what you mean about it driving you crazy, Ive got to do something with it as I cant stand it rattling! getting back to the spring idea, do you have to feed the split pin through the spring to secure it?
