It's a long story, but I've aquired a '94 Trophy 900. Is there anything I should know about or watch out for?

Congratulations! They're fine bikes.

Just check out the Trophy section for a few quirks about them. I did a review once on the old forum which I think is still there.

If there's anything in particular you want to know...just ask!

Oh....by the way- I know from experience with the 1200 that these bikes don't like to be over-filled with oil. Be very careful when topping-up or changing the oil. There's plenty of oil in the crankcase to run the bike safely a tad LOW and allow for expansion. The bike won't even start if there's too much oil (raises the oil pressure too high). I keep mine filled to just below the "FULL" mark on the dipstick when screwed all the way down.

I guess it (the review) was already moved over here when the site switch was made. So just look under the Trophy section of TriumphTalk.

I can't stress enough that the low speed handling is a handful. I've never ridden the 900 version though - I'd think I've heard that it's a little better in that respect than the 1200. I also know the 3 cylinder 900 sounds great when stressed.

The tank holds like 6 to 6.5 gallons...... up high. If you add to that weighted side cases and possibly a top-box, it can get your attention real fast!

They are very touchy about proper tire pressures too, so go about 2 lbs-psi above the recommended. Most guys seem to like the Avons on their Trophy.

If you have the panniers, double-check the lock clasp and make sure they hold the panniers in place over rough conditions. I've read of guys losing a pannier at 80 MPH and watching it shatter into little pieces in their mirrors. You can bend the "hook" a bit to improve that if it's gotten worn over time. For long trips with the bags packed heavy, I actually wire-tie the panniers at the lock since replacing them is an expensive proposition.
