2023 900GT. No DRL switch installed. When ignition is turned on, light segments around perimeter of headlight illuminate.

Then when engine started the right headlight illuminates only.

Then when high beam switch selected on both segments illuminate. My question is whether both segments are supposed to be illuminated at low beam setting

If you have access to a wiring diagram that should clear it up. There is a low beam cutout switch to shut the lights off during engine crank. Usually it's activated with the start button. If you have keyless start it's activated by the start sequence in the ECM. The diagram would show whether both lamps are supposed to be lit or only the one before the start button is pushed.

From what I understand on the US models there is no DRL switch. For all models the low beam is right lamp only, high beam is both. There is no option for DRL only in the US as I believe there is overseas.

As Newchamp pointed out and I've seen in many YouTube vidoes, US models don't get the DRL switch that European countries (and others) get. Attached is a pic of my Tiger 900 with the blank and one from a Turkish site with the DRL switch.

I'm from UK with a new Tigger 900. We have the DLR switch. When selected, the DLR is bright around periphery, selecting LOW BEAM, only rh headlight comes on - a one eyed look unfortunately! (I don't really like that but hey, it's a great bike - growing on me after 600 miles) . With HIGH selected both bulbs are on. The old Tiger 800 had no DLR but both bulbs on low beam all the time (no choice) and when high beam selected still both. Progress I guess and European legislation (yes we are still influenced, despite BREXIT!). Hope useful, CJ
