Air Bag Protective Rider's Suit

Dainese is set to release its new air-bag-equipped suits by 2010 - a full 10 years after development of the system began. Dainese's D-Tec system is the first airbag from a major protective bike clothing manufacturer, although small companies have released jackets with cruder activation systems.

They are WAY cooler than skin dragging on pavement!

No doubt in my mind! But it is all I can stand to wear a vented fabric jacket with armor here in the Florida heat. It was 94 today and sticky humid as I rode home from the KIA mission. I was in full gear.

Seriously, I wouldn't think it looks to be any hotter than a normal ballistic nylon jacket.

I was going to ask the same thing as it triggered before he hit the ground

The original prototypes they were testing had a lanyard you attached to the bike for a trigger. I could not see if this one had that lanyard or not.

This is what I also thought but it also triggered while he has in the same position before he started coming off. It looked like it may have been an angle trigger leaning more than normal would trigger it

May be triggered with sensors in the leathers, in the hips or legs maybe. Looking at the slow motion, doesn't really do much for the shoulders and other impact points. Looks like it would prevent a lot of neck injury, though.
Would be ideal for a water landing.
