This morning when I was taking the wife to work this person runs out into the road just about in front of me. I managed to miss them but at that time of the morning it is still rather dark. I still said to the wife that person is begging to get run over.

On my way back there it is someone had run them down. The cops were already there but no ambulance as yet. I had to ride right past the person on the ground and they did not look good.

Further on I past the ambulances rushing to the accident. Not sure if this person was on drugs or what but I was not surprised to see them being hit by a car.

This was the thing I noticed immediately when I was in South America - anything goes in the cities and it's a free-for-all.
Utter chaos and constant blowing of horns. Somehow they make it work.

You tend to just know that when a traffic light turns green you really need to make sure a taxi is not coming from the red side, you also just expect these guys to do anything they want so when you see them it is all eyes on what they doing and what they could do.

It is that way all through Central and South America and the Caribbean.. In that area of the world the most importand devices on a vehicle are -
1. Steering wheel
2, Accelerator
3. Horn
4. Radio
Brakes are way on down the list!

Deliberately running red lights is starting to be a problem here and now I always look both ways when the light turns green.
That is beginning to happen here, too.
