I am a machenest & I was wondering if I made a disk to replace the OEM disk without any holes for the sensor to read can I disable the abs permently with out the check engine light coming on ?

Just an educated guess, but I would imagine that the light will light up anytime there is anything not working as it should with the ABS system. By the way, wouldn't you need to make THREE rotors ( two for the front and one for the rear)?

I see now.....but I believe the light will light up anyhow whenever anything with the ABS isn't working properly.

Also, aren't the front and rear integrated?

There wouldn't be much sense in making a non integrated ABS system.

Too bad there isn't an OFF switch.

You can turn the ABS off on the Tiger 800XC through your instrument panel. Perhaps, with a computer, you could disable it completely. Stock, once you turn it off, it comes back on when you restart. The front and rear brakes are NOT integrated. It is an adventure bike meant to be used off road.

The problem is I go from dirt to asphalt 3or 4 times in one trip & I can't turn it off if you are moving. And I forget some times .

I know exactly what you mean. the ABS needs a button on the handle bar where you can turn it off and on. When I am riding as you describe above, I turn it off and leave it off, even on the pavement. Sometimes if I am riding mild off road stuff, I leave it on.

Just so you know, all of the 800's imported into the US have ABS since about December of 2011. You can't get one without ABS. With a tuner program and a computer, you might be able to disable it.

As far as I know they don't. I use TuneECU, which is free. http://www.tuneecu.com/ There is another program that you have to pay for. It is more thorough than TuneECU and will do more. I haven't progressed to that level of expertise with mapping. I forgot the name of it. Those that use it like it.
