It's too bad this little trip was by car, but the weather wasn't great (wet) so it's just as well I suppose. In spite of the weather we had a good time and stayed at a nice hotel and were pampered a bit.
The island province of P.E.I. is now connected to the mainland by a 13 km (8 mile) bridge that opened in 1997, ending decades of waiting in line for ferry service.
This is the Confederation Bridge......

.....and a shot from the air.

On Sunday the weather cleared for a few hours so we rode over to the national park to see the sand dunes along the beach. In spite of the many signs to not feed the wild animals this "foxy" fellow walked right up to the car and waited for a handout. It was obvious he had already been spoiled.

We took a walk along the dunes and came upon a small lake with hundreds of Canada geese resting on their way south. We watched as groups took flight.

It was nothing very exciting, but it was a change to get away.
Oh yes.....BTW.....I picked up my local drivers license while I was there. You need to be legal and do as the locals do :y2:

Great stuff Rocky
thats one helluva bridge,I'm picking it isnt overly deep
I allo like the fox,it would be very hard not to give it a bit of a treat I'm thinking.

Looks like you had a really good trip. Nice pics and thanks for posting them.

I like the fox. Did you give in and feed him? I would have. :y2:

That bridge looks a lot like the Seven Mile Bridge in the Florida Keys.

Thanks guys.
Yes, the fox was pretty cute alright, but I had nothing to toss to him so he went away empty handed this time SAD
It's well past tourist season so many shops and attractions are already closed for the season, but my wife got in some shopping which always makes her happy :y2:
It was just the getting away and change of scene that was important for me to do for her.

Thanks for the pics Rocky. FOXY lady in pic 3. :y15:

Carl I am VERY familiar with THAT bridge used to ride it daily to and from work SAD often I miss the Keys till I hear from friends on the costs of living and remember why I am glad I moved..........this is the bridge I currently commute on......odd I always seem to travel bridges to work :y10:

Stunning place Rocky I was just wondering why that bridge is not straight but make a curve like it does. I suppose it has something to do with structural strength or something like that

Devo got it right.
According to traffic experts and engineers who design bridges, a long straight roadbed can have a hypnotic effect on drivers and possibly cause accidents so a mild S-curve was built into it.

Also, sometimes a curve is built into a bridge, a least here in the the US, because the bridge must be perpendicular to the shipping/boating channel where it crosses the channel.

he's a bluddy know all that devo eh. :y6:
BGRIN
The bridge is only two lanes wide with only a small shoulder on each side.
The sides of the bridge are solid to prevent drivers from gawking and wandering out of their lane. Unless you're in a truck or a high SUV you can't see over the side. It's like driving through a canyon.
There isn't anything to see anyway unless there happened to be a ship passing near or under the bridge.
The ferry crossing used to take 45 minutes to an hour depending on wind and weather. Now it only takes 12-13 minutes to cross.

Thanks for posting this Rocky!!!

Looks like a great time was had by all.

A question for Adrian: Is Sunbaked, AL close to Daphne???:y2:
