The Veterans Hospital complex is among a general complex of hospitals that are only a few blocks from where I live. It's where I had my shoulder surgery and physio program four years ago and it's where I take my wife for her many appointments and treatments.
Our vintage club learned of a 93 year-old vet in the Vet Hospital that was a dispatch rider in the Canadian army in WWII. He's in good health and still spry for his age.
We learned that he has a bucket list and one of the things is to go for a ride in a sidecar rig while he is still able.
With that in mind, we contacted a local tour company that does tours around the area using Ural sidecar motorcycles. The tour around the city is only about $100.00 so we contracted them to be at the Vet Hospital Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM to pick up our passenger. They provide the driver too.
Our club is going to follow along on vintage machines as the ride winds around the city. Much longer might be too much for the old boy!
The media has been alerted so we expect to get some coverage.
The police department has been asked to provide a motorcycle escort for our group, but it remains to be seen if they will respond.
