I have spent most of the last week and half with my kids and grand kids. For the first time in over four years, we have all been together at the same time. Because St Augustine (the oldest continuously inhabited city in the USA - Pensacola is a few years older; but the colony was wiped out by a hurricane and resettled a few years later) is where they grew up and finished high school, the tend to gravitate back there on each visit. They all have friends in St Augustine and Justin is buried there. And of course there is the beach. All of them love the beach and ocean and all of them surf.

I got to to spend a day with my youngest grand kids at Disney World and another day with them at Rock Springs, a beautiful natural spring and run that feeds into the Wikiva River. It is a place that spent a lot of time when I was growing up.

We spent several days with all of them in St Augustine, at the beach and in the ocean. We played beach volley ball and I hung right in there with them.I am sure i am a little more stiff and sore than they are.

I rode the Tiger up to St Augustine one day and they were all impressed. All of my kids and my daughters' hubbies ride. Trey, my son, rode the the Tiger and he likes it - a lot. He says it is like a cross between his Speed Triple and his dirt bike.

We had all hoped to watch the last space shuttle launch tomorrow; but, alas, there is only a 30% chance that the weather will permit the launch. We all watched launches when they were growing up.

All good thing have to come to an end. Christy and her family will leave for Denver on Saturday; Trey and his family will live for Leesville, Louisiana on Saturday; and Sheryl and her family will leave for Seattle on Monday. I will certainly miss them; but I am very grateful for this time together and that Dad could be with his great grandchildren and grans children. He loved it.

Here are my kids and grand kids. This photo was taken on St Augustine Beach.

What a great set of photos you really seem to have a very close family and your dad looks very well indeed. It is a shame that gatherings like this have to come to an end but it sounds like you all had a great time of it while it lasted.

Well I have not spoken to my one brother or sister in about 10 years or so. Not that we had any sort of a falling out but they could not be bothered about anyone but themselves. I do have contact with my other brother we phone each other every week or so and that is great.

Family relationships are too complex for others to comment on other than to say you should from time to time make an attempt to build bridges.

I thought this was gonna be a report on the 800 so far ! :y2: great looking family Carl, as was said you are a lucky man. If they are anything like you, a great bunch of people too.

A very wise statement. TUP I agree about attempting to build bridges.

Yes they are very complicated but you can invite people to pop in and visit when they are in your town only so many times and then give up :y10:

Never give up and I know it gets discouraging. But it costs you nothing to try. It is too bad they are so wrapped up in themselves. I am glad you have a relationship with your other brother. I hope the other two siblings will come around.

Thanks, Dale. And they are a great bunch of people.

Great looking family you have there Carl. I've only spent a couple days in St, Augustine but really enjoyed the area. I can see why visits would tend to drift that way.

Leesville? Fort Polk?

Thank you, Tony.

We loved living in the St Augustine area. It is a great little city.

Yes, Ft Polk. Trey retired from the Army two years ago at Ft Polk and he is now head of Range Control as a Civil Service employee.

When you and Mae Lyne happen to be in Leesville for a visit, let me know and I'll see about heading over that way and we can put a few miles on the bikes. Leesville isn't to far from here and would make for a good ride.
