I have no idea, but with classic bikes (to me a T140 is a classic) I don't care.
Older bikes are for fun regardless of the cost.
New bikes have to be value for money.

My '78 T140V seems to drink the gas quite liberally.....I never really paid close attention, but I'd guess I'm getting only about 110 miles out of it. Of course the riding style would make your mileage vary.

Otherwise,
I don't care for the purposes of how much fun my bike is to ride. As a first time owner, I'm curious for the purpose of engine efficieny and perfromance. Having two carbs, I want to be sure it's operating as best as possible and I think gas mileage would be an indicator.

Just for interest, my TSS 8 valve returns 46 miles per US Gallon, or 56 miles per Imperial Gallon. Splutters onto reserve at 185 miles (300 kms), then top up with 4 US Gallons, 3.3 Imperial Gallons or 15 litres.

Well, my Bonnie is a '72 650 with rebuilt carbs & top-end and the best I can get out of it on trips is 38mpg....while my .09 "Screamin' Eagle"CVO Harley Road Glide with 1800cc gets
43mpg! Go figure....

But, as others are saying, who cares? It's all about the fun of riding a classic - especially one that is hot in both acceleration and the twisties......AND gets heads turned, "Hey!
Isn't that an old Bonneville?!?!" Then, of course, you hear their war story on how they had one, or their friend had one, or they had an old Honda......... ;-)

My 1977 T140V does around 45mpg, but I also have a Silver Jubilee T140 with around 2500 miles on the clock, which I haven't taken over 65mph yet, andthe last tankful did around the 65mpg mark. Carb wear and riding style make a lot of difference - by the way, thats imperial gallons not US ones!
