I remember those things were more or less considered a joke back when they first came out, but IIRC they only came in puny engine sizes back then. I guess they're coming in real engine sizes these days.
Then there was that lawsuit HD brought on them over marketing, which HD lost but at the time Harley was going through their huge resurgence after years of stagnation, so nobody really bought many Rebels. They wound only running the original for a couple years. Back in those days I rocked a Harley so maybe I was partial, but they were pretty weak looking, no doubt about it.
You'd still never catch me on one but they do look legitimately sharper now. They're not so focused on looking like a wannabe Harley with stunted growth.
