I was dropping off my cousins BMW last week for service, and as I strolled through the showroom, I kind of fell in love with a Bonne Bobber they had on display. I really like the T120 they had too. I thought that before I write a large check, I would do a little product research. I'm not familiar with the Triumph bikes, and I was wanting some opinions on "how reliable" these bikes are.

I will be doing mostly day/weekend touring around my immediate area, but won't rule out the possibility of a longer week long ride. I've rode a little bit of everything, and am not a big fan of the heavier HD type bikes, prefer to have something a little lighter, and more nimble without going to a sport bike.

Please tell me what you think of your newer Bonnevilles.

Thanks
Walt

Well, for the reliability of the Bonneville line I would have to say they are as reliable as the day is long. There are several members here that have a Bonneville and they will be the best source for actual experience on the bikes.

The bike will do fine on long trips if you decide to do any. I've met a few folks out on the road that are touring the US on their Bonneville and they don't seem to be concerned with the bike they are on. One couple said they were on their 4th trip across the US and this was their second one on the Bonneville, the other 2 trips were on an Electra Glide.

Enjoy your time on the forum and ask any questions you may have, their will probably be one or more that can give you an answer.

The Bonneville line of Triumphs are excellent bikes and the engines are bullet proof. There are no reliability issues with these bikes.
Feed them fresh oil and filters on schedule and they will run forever.
The first thing to consider is what style of riding you are going to do.
The bobber may not be the best choice for touring. The T120 would be better for that - easier to fit saddlebags, etc.
But if you just want a bike for casual riding or a day ride then the bobber will do nicely.
For a combination of both touring (weekends, a week, 10 days?) and casual riding I would choose the T120.

All good this side of the pond too. A mate of mine has a 900 Thruxton, and we've been to France, Germany, Belgium, Scotland, and it's not missed a beat. Enjoy the T120 if you decide to buy one, and also the forum too.

this is all good to hear as my wife has just got her 17 black bobber with black waxed cotton panniers, heated grips and knee pads, just waiting for snow and salt to dissapear.only 2 problems so far digital service manual seems to be a problem to get.locking gas cap is a pain as it has to locked all the time and key can not be removed until put back in place on tank .
