I sold my Suzuki DR350 and also my Suzuki DR200 this past winter. A guy from Michigan drove down (a loooong way) to my place in Arkansas in January to buy the DR350; and a LGBT girl drove several hundred miles from East Tennessee to buy the DR200 (she needed the low seat height). They were both nice dual sports (the DR200 was like new), but both had new carbs and it had gotten expensive replacing carbs every year because of our insane government's insistence on the use of ethanol in gasoline.

So I bought a new, fuel injected, Honda 250 dual sport. And I stopped buying gasoline with ethanol for anything other than my 4 wheeled vehicles.

The stock seat was replaced immediately for a wider, softer seat; an aluminum skid guard was added, brush guards went on the handlebars and a nice big luggage rack was also added. It starts immediately, idles perfectly as soon as started and is light and easy to ride. You can rev it up through the gears and cruise at 70 mph (not fun with no windshield) or just putt putt around at the speed limit.

Its got about a foot of ground clearance, but you pay for this with a 33 inch seat height (under load?). I'm 5'11" and its a long way up there for me.

A local dealer sold it to me for $4,300. Its supposed to get about 70-75 mpg. Thus far, it has been bulletproof.

Complaints - Seat height definitely, a bit too much dirt bias for me and the complexity of build. I bought a shop manual and after reading through it, I decided that I wouldn't be working on it much.

Overall - I would definitely recommend it to someone looking for a dual sport.

Of course I still have my T100 Bonnie and my HD Superglide

Enjoy the new ride. I haven't seen the Honda 250 yet but glad there is more of the smaller D/S bikes making it here to the U.S.

Gary, If you get time could you post some pictures of the mods you made on your Honda. I still have my Suzuki DR350 and have made a few mods for my up and coming trip the Germany Belgium and Austria ( for the Tri days event ). The main one being the seat, I've put a Gel pad under the cover, and at the moment it seems to have done the trick. I've just had some new carpets in the house, and plan to put a layer of underlay over the top of the Gel ( But under the seat cover ) for that little bit of extra comfort.
I've always loved the duel sport machines and would love to see some pictures of it if you don't mind posting them that is.
Here's my DR
