Take your ignition key and insert it into the seat lock located on the left hand side of the bike, about 1/2 way down, in front of the pannier (side-bag). Turn the key to release the rear portion of the seat first and lift it up and rearward to release the front end of the seat from the tang at the rear of the gas tank.

Sometimes the key may be hard to turn. If that is the case, then push down hard on the rear part of the seat as you turn the key (it should turn about 1/4 turn).

Your gas leak is probably one of the rubber gas lines located under the left hand side of the tank. You'll need to remove the gas flow knob with a phillips head screwdriver leaving just the stalk. CAREFULLY lift the tank up!!! There are hoses and your gas gage wiring attached to the underside of the tank that you should remove gently. Be sure to turn the gas flow knob to the OFF position when removing the tank or else you'll be wearing all that gasoline. I normally gently lift the tank from the rear and slide something underneath that end to hold it up while I remove the fuel hoses, vacuum hoses, and wiring.

That does not sound good at all. I don't have a modern day Trophy so I can't help you. I am going to move this thread into the Spots/Touring category and place it in the Trophy section so that it will get seen. We have some Trophy owners who will probably be on line this evening.

I wish you the best with the repair. Please let us know what you find.

The Seeker beat me to answering. Thanks, AJ

It is probably a cracked rubber gas line from age and heat. Any NAPA or decent auto parts store can cut you some to length...just be sure they are selling you GAS hose so it will hold up to the gasoline. While you are under there, you may as well replace ALL of those hoses (vacuum too) since if one has cracked from age, you can bet another one will begin leaking too.

If a vacuum hose begins leaking air, then your fuel petock will close and the bike will stop running. One end attaches to the petcock an the other goes to one of your 4 carbs. It doesn't matter which one as long as the other 3 have that hose connection blocked off with a little rubber "cap".

I would be surprise if it leaks while the engine is shut off...or at least surprised if it leaks for very long since without the engine running, the petcock will close off the gas supply from the tank leaving only what's in the hose itself to drain.
